How it all started
I first became interested in caring for people and alleviating their pain and suffering during my eight years working in the NHS. This was over 20 years ago.
In my health care assistant and surgical assistant roles, I found myself to be very skilled at helping to ease patients’ distress and calm their nerves prior to their surgeries and throughout their hospital journeys. With colleagues, I honed my Reiki skills through supporting consultants, surgeons and scrub nurses who were suffering from migraines or other debilitating physical ailments which were detrimentally impacting their day to day functioning and ability to perform at work.
Seeing how successful Reiki could be, I became aware of and frustrated by the limitations of the medical care model. This led me further towards alternative and complementary therapies and the significant benefits of energy healing.
